Jeromes and Darrow; Bristol, Con. 30 Hr wooden works; Jester Top Clock with turned rope columns, circa 1828-1830
Here is a rather rare clock. This is a Jeromes and Darrow Jester Top clock. As received this clock has wonderful rope turned columns, a beautiful dial, movement and 3 out of 4 feet. It was missing the backboard. However, at this point I have now found a correct backboard which is now installed in the clock
Clock here now has a vintage label from a backboard salvaged from a junk case, Door now restored
Here is the 5.112 movement running on the test stand. This movement needed numerous items repaired, too many to list here
Jeromes and Darrow Jester Top Clock Complete
How's this for a complete transformation from the picture on the left. Still needs a reverse painting though
I've chosen to have the veneer be book-matched and flow upward and outward in the jester "scrolls". In doing the research it seems a lot of these have veneer going straight horizontal, but that was not good enough for me
This is not a picture of my clock. It is an image showing what this clock will look like when it is complete. This clock is #2 in the restoration que at this point in time
