Here is a picture of the 30 Hr wooden works clock as received with the groaner movement. As received it had a replacement splat, hands and label. The dial had numerous small flakes that almost looked like heat blisters. The stenciling on the columns was hideous.
The restoration included making a suitable splat and doing the stenciling to that as well as the columns and the blocks above and below the columns. I was able to get an excellent copy of a Jeromes and Darrow label, so I chose to turn this clock into a Jeromes and Darrow clock. I did the stenciling on the lower glass as well. At the moment that is a print placed behind the glass. It is not historically correct for the clock but looks pretty good. However I did this restoration many years ago, and at this point in time I have no motivation to correct it.
The hands I actually made from scratch myself. The cover of the Merritts catalog many years ago had an image of these hands on the cover that was to the proper scale. I photocopied the cover and used it as a pattern. I glue the paper right onto the metal, then cut and file the hand to the proper shape. Final result is pretty good.
