Waterbury Clock Co. Waterbury, Conn 8 Day Niagara Model Parlor Clock; circa 1880's
Here is a grand looking clock in the as found condition. This is the Niagara Model clock made by the Waterbury Clock Co. This same case style was used for their model 43 calendar clock but in the non-calendar form. This clock stands 28 inches tall and has an 8 inch dial, so this is no ordinary Kitchen clock! This clock was apparently painted white as some point. It looks as though someone paid money to have the thing professionally stripped which removed 95% of the white paint. However, what was left was the hardest part to remove. In order to apply finish to this clock, I had to spend hours scraping and picking paint out of all the little crevices everywhere.
Here is a 3/4 view of the restored clock
Here is the restored condition for this Waterbury Niagara clock. The original glass still in the clock was stripped clear as that is how this clock originally was. The movement was one of the dirtiest ones I have ever seen. It trashed my cleaning fluid in one shot. Now she is running perfecting and sounding grand as she chimes
